Transportation in and out
Dijon is visited by lots of tourists each year and the transportation network in and around the city has long ago adapted to the needs of these travelers. Just plan your itinerary with care, find some good travel deals and special offers and you won’t have any problems with getting to Dijon or moving around it.
Getting to Dijon
- By Plane
Location: Aéroport Dijon-Bourgogne is 5 km southeast of the city centre.
Warning: The airport offers only private and business jets, taxi planes, and charter services; there is a project to re-establish commercial flights on a regular basis.
- By Train
There are TGV high-speed trains available directly from the center of Dijon to Paris CDG airport; otherwise, Air Swiss busses go from CDG to Paris Gare de Lyon where you can easily find a TGV to Dijon (25 trains circulate each day).
There are also regular train services to a variety of destinations, many of which being in Italy (Milan, Turin, Florence, Rome etc.).
Cost for one-way trip by TGV from Paris Gare de Lyon to Dijon: approx. 30 EUR. Trip duration: 1 h 45 min.
Cost for one-way trip by TGV from Lyon to Dijon: approx. 20 EUR. Trip duration: 2 h
- By Bus
The main bus station of Dijon is in the train station complex. You can find out more at the Transco information counter (03 80 42 11 00). Study the schedules from the free Guide Horaire booklet; tickets are sold as you get on board.
Bus links to nearby tourist destinations: Transco bus 60 links Dijon with the Côte de Nuits wine villages (Marsannay-la-Côte, Gevrey-Chambertin, Couchey and Fixin); the local Divia Ligne 15 goes to Marsannay-la-Côte.
International bus companies: choose between Eurolines (03 80 68 20 44, at rue Guillaume Tell) or Avis, Europcar, National-Citer which have offices at the train station; a block to the north you’ll find Hertz. Also, ADA (03 80 51 90 90, at av Jean Jaurès) is 2 km south of the train station.
International bus itineraries: From the train station (rue du Docteur Remy) to Lyon-Part Dieu or Lyon-Perrache (2 h), Paris Gare de Lyon (2 h), Strasbourg (4 h), Nice (6 h).
Getting around Dijon
- By Bus
Local bus lines: Liane lines are numbered from 1 to 7 and they run every 10 min; the less Ligne lines are numbered from 10 to 51 (less frequent).
Downtown Dijon by bus: The city offers the Diviaciti, a free shuttle bus for visitors that connects many of the downtown destinations in a loop, along with several parking areas. The Office of Tourism, next to Jardin Darcy, has free maps for the downtown area, including a map and guide for the self-guided walking tour of Dijon. The walking tour uses small brass pavement markers with an owl design to note the path along the sidewalks of Dijon. Larger numbered owl markers correspond to different stops on the tour, and the guide pamphlet will have descriptions of the art, history and architecture of that stop.
Downtown itineraries: by Diviaciti minibuses, in the city centre (from Monday to Saturday, 07:00 - 20:00); by Liane buses (1, 3, 5 and 6), along rue de la Liberté.
Cost for single tickets: 0.90 EUR (1 h validity)
Forfait Journée ticket: 3 EUR (1 day validity); buy them at tourist or L’Espace Bus offices.

- On Foot
This is the best way to stroll around many parts of Dijon, especially the Old Town.
